Meet Kelly

Founder of Steady in Hope

Kelly Cox is a Certified Child Life Specialist, working mother and native Texan. Since becoming certified in 2014 Kelly has provided child life services to families facing the challenges of illness, loss, trauma, and transitions. Kelly provides in-home child life visits, phone/virtual consultations, education workshops and support to community programs and schools.

In 2021, Kelly decided to pursue her dream of offering private child life services to the community. The origin of the name Steady in Hope is from a blog Kelly wrote while facing her mother’s terminal illness. The loss of her mother has greatly impacted Kelly’s desire to support children and families through challenging times. Through her own experiences she has learned the importance of acknowledging your grief, memorializing your loved one and finding hope within the pain. Kelly’s passion in life is to bring comfort and care to those in need.

Kelly received her Bachelor of Arts in Child Development with an emphasis in Child Life from Texas Woman’s University and became certified as a child life specialist in 2014. In 2021, Kelly received her Grief Counselor Certification through the American Institute of Healthcare Professionals. Kelly has supported families through a variety of populations including pediatric and adult hospice, hospital based work supporting children of adult patients and the palliative perinatal and NICU team as well as serving as the Virtual Group Coordinator for The WARM Place.
